Safe rooftop evacuation
– Our assignment at Ljungarumsskolan in Jönköping is far from the first time we’ve worked with Weland. We’ve bought spiral staircases, grating, walkways, and stair treads from Weland in the past, and we’ve always been satisfied with both the collaboration and the products they’ve delivered, says Mattias Jonsson at Svetsservice in Jönköping.
Jonsson started the business in 2019 and the company, which specialises in things such as certified welding and steel constructions, has grown to a team of 11 employees. The company works a lot with paper mills and affiliated companies, but also with the food industry, which is a sector that imposes extremely stringent demands on the companies it works with.
Working with safety and being responsive to some very stringent requirements is therefore bread and butter to Svetsservice, and so being charged with creating a safe evacuation route from the roof of Ljungarumsskolan was not a massive leap.
– Once we received the green light, I contacted Weland immediately, sending over all the relevant documentation and details of the applicable criteria, and the proposed solution came back in quick order.
– As usual, our collaboration has run like clockwork, he says.
Weland and no-one else
The rooftop evacuation route consists of a walkway and two spiral staircases, which lead down to safety on the ground. The staircases feature protective cages, and all products, as well as the design of the solution itself, have been supplied by Weland.
– The fact that Weland has such a broad product offering is a major plus. In this case, we were about to source all the necessary products and the solution itself from them, which made our lives an absolute dream, says Jonsson.
He goes on to say that he frequently comes across construction contracts that specify Weland as a prescribed element.
– They’ve got a good reputation in the industry, and many time it’s the end customers themselves that want Weland and no-one else.
