SPIRAL STAIRCASES JOS
During development of the Spiral Staircase JOS, great focus was placed on minimising the environmental impact of the product throughout its service life. By using fewer materials and implementing a design that ensures that the staircase is lighter than its traditional counterparts, which, in turn, has resulted in a manufacturing process that is not as energy-hungry.
The Spiral Staircase JOS has been developed primarily to serve as a safe and stable evacuation route, but is also equally at home in other types of environment where function and industrial design is highly prized.
Underpinning the development process is, aside from a drive to improve sustainability, a desire to take the traditional spiral staircase to the next level in terms of material, design, and new approaches to function and construction.
As with Weland’s other staircases, the Spiral Staircase JOS has been developed to last for generations to come, making it a wise investment for anyone who has sustainability, product characteristics, high quality, and a long service life at the top of their agenda.
Railing infill
When it comes to railing infill, there are a number of different options for you to choose between to ensure that your staircase blends in well with the aesthetics of the environment in which it is to be located. Available infills include solid side or sides with slotted, round, or square holes.
Slit Railing
Railing infill with elongated, slotted, rounded holes, dim. 20×220 mm.
Square Railing
Railing infill with square holes, dim. 15×15, square perforation c/c 40 mm in figure, but we also offer other holes and sectioning.
Round Railing
Rail infill with round holes, diameter 15 mm, with square sectioning c/c 40 mm in figure, but we also offer other holes and sectioning.
Solid Railing
Solid Railing is a completely solid option without any sort of pattern perforation.
Handrails
As standard handrails are made of hot-dip galvanized steel tube, Ø 42 mm.
Options
It is a good idea to equip large radius spiral staircases with an inner handrail. This provides increased safety, for example, when two people who are using the staircase in opposite directions meet. The inner handrail is placed on the central tube.
Provide a safer and more decorative environment by equipping your spiral staircase with handrail lighting. This is an optional extra and not supplied as standard.
Stair treads
Stair treads and landings for Spiral Staircases JOS are made from perforated plate which features our signature perforated holes. This type of stair tread raises the safety bar thanks to its stability and the fact that the perforated holes allow water and snow to pass through, which reduces the risk of slipping. They are also easy to maintain and are highly resistant to corrosion.
Landings
As standard, Weland’s step-off landings are designed as square 90˚ landings with a radius or as a final step. Non-standard landings can be made to meet the specific needs and requirements of the customer. The step-off landing can also be extended to a platform/balcony.
Square
Square landing for use in corners or at connections to arch edges.
90° landing with radius
90˚ landing with radius for connection to round hole in arch.
Final step
A smaller type of landing that is suitable for attaching to things such as an existing balcony.
Contrast marking
The easy to fit contrast marking in black lacquered punched sheet metal is included as standard, but is also available in other colours on order.
Surface treatment
The Spiral Staircase JOS is as standard galvanized according to ZM310 or alternatively hot-dip galvanized according to SS EN ISO 1461. The stairs are hot-dip galvanized in our own facility to withstand tough stresses. These methods provide very strong protection against corrosion. For more information, visit our surface treatment page.
Optional extras
To increase the accessibility and safety, the staircase can also be equipped with a number of optional extras such as inner handrails, arched handrails, or a protective cage that can guard against unauthorised access. You can also fit a locking gate at the bottom or top of the staircase. Weland will help you find the right accessories for your Spiral Staircase JOS.
Made as standard from grating in heights of 2245 and 4000 mm, but is also available in other heights upon request. The external radius of the cage is 110 mm larger than the radius of the staircase, and it is delivered in sections for bolting together, where the requisite bolting materials are enclosed. The cage is placed on the foundation. The door is equipped as standard with an ASSA 565 deadlock, but may also be equipped with an ASSA 410 hook bolt, an ASSA 722 with emergency evacuation fitting, and an ASSA 732 with an emergency evacuation fitting. Door push on both sides. The cage door is opened with a key from the outside and knob from the inside.
Protective cages in the grating can also be made higher than the standard height and run to the full height of the staircase. The external radius of the cage is 130 mm larger than the radius of the staircase. The door is equipped as standard with an ASSA 565 deadlock, but may also be equipped with an ASSA 410 hook bolt, an ASSA 722 with emergency evacuation fitting, and an ASSA 732 with an emergency evacuation fitting. Door push on both sides. Door push on both sides. The cage door is opened with a key from the outside and knob from the inside. Another suitable material for stair cladding is perforated sheet metal, which is available in a variety of standard patterns. Custom designs are also available.
To increase the safety of the spiral staircase, a gate can be fitted at the start or end of the staircase. The gate hinges are mounted on the centre tube and the lock fittings are fitted to the stair railing. The lock is spring loaded and is so firm that small children cannot open it.
We offer several different types of arch railing. Fitting is normally by top installation or side installation, and it is manufactured with a height of 1100 mm.
